I’ve been modeling some things for a new project that I’m working on, the ambition in me wants to do a Halloween themed animation base in a Gothic cemetery. Whetheror not it ends up being an animation or a still remains to be seen but I’m having fun regardless.

The other night I was attempting to model a mausoleum, initially going off what I thought it should look like. That wasn’t happening too well so I decided to go looking for some reference images. After an hour or so of searching and not quite finding the perfect image, it finally dawned on me that like most major cities, we have a few old cemeteries right here. Might as well go out and take my own reference images, what a novel idea!

I absolutely love exploring old cemeteries, talk about seeing so much history right before your eyes. It’s especially cool to see the old elaborate tombstones. Death is the one mystery that is impossible to solve, the primary reason for religion because as a human beings we can’t quite wrap our brains around it, so theories are invented which over time become fact in some peoples minds. Cemeteries are so full of those rituals and myths, perhaps its why we have them in the first place.

So anyway, I had an awesome time and did manage some good reference materials. I can’t say that I’m much of a photographer any more, but thought I would share a few.
